Juventus Joins Serie A: The Meaning Behind Players' Red Face Stripes
Juventus players, alongside all Serie A teams, sported a red stripe on their faces in the 13th round for "A Red to Violence," raising crucial awareness against violence towards women in Italy.

Juventus players, alongside all Serie A teams, prominently displayed a red stripe on their faces during the 13th round of fixtures. This symbolic gesture is part of the "Un Rosso alla Violenza" ('A red to violence') campaign, a crucial league initiative aimed at raising public awareness against violence towards women in Italy.
This marks the eighth consecutive year that Serie A has actively supported the campaign, which seeks to highlight the severity of physical and psychological abuse suffered by women across the nation. Juventus's participation underscores the club's and Italian football's commitment to promoting fundamental societal values.
Lega Serie A has released alarming statistics that underscore the continued importance of this campaign. In 2024, 98 women were tragically killed in Italy, and a staggering 86% of these lives were lost at the hands of a loved one or family member.
The figures remain deeply concerning: it is estimated that 31.5% of women have experienced some form of physical or sexual abuse in their lifetime. Even more disheartening is that over 28% of these women refuse to discuss their experiences, making silence a significant barrier to addressing the issue.
Lega Serie A President Lorenzo Casini emphasized football's powerful role in this social battle. "Football is not just a sport, it is also a powerful social phenomenon which is capable of reaching millions of fans. For this reason, we have to use all its strength to raise awareness and spread fundamental values such as mutual respect, solidarity and non-discrimination," Casini stated.
